Vibes Patron back again with another update & I’ve decided to switch things up a little bit and provide weekly updates to keep the gems coming but in batches as opposed to daily updates.

The music gods have definitely served up a treat over the past fortnight with a plethora of great music for us to tuck into.

Beyonce finally released her eagerly anticipated Black is King film on Disney+ this past Friday & accompanied its release with the Deluxe version of The Lion King: The Gift album including the absolutely super BLACK PARADE song, which is definitely the standout for me from the new recordings on the project.

British duo Disclosure released the 5th single Douha (Mali Mali) featuring Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara off their soon to be released 3rd studio album Energy dropping in just over 3 weeks on August 28th.

British songstress & one of my personal faves Jorja Smith also dropped her incredible single By Any Means this past Friday, which is her 2nd release of the year following Rose Rogue which dropped at the start of June

Nigerian rapper Reminisce released his latest album Vibes & Insha Allah this past Friday and it includes a couple heaters including my personal favourite Eja Osan featuring Tiwa Savage

UK rapper Octavian released a surprise two-pack single drop; Chapter 1 & the catchy Rari featuring Future this past Friday. It’s his first release since Poison earlier in the year & I’m intrigued to see what follows from this for Octavian as the year progresses

Gunna released the deluxe version of his excellent WUNNA album just under a fortnight ago with an additional 8 tracks for fans to tuck into. I personally couldn’t get the infectious 200 FOR LUNCH out of my head and I believe everyone deserves to enjoy this record

Logic released his 6th & ‘supposedly’ last album No Pressure just under a fortnight ago as well. As usual, it’s a really good listen but not what I expect non-stans to be listening to in a couple of months. However, this offering still includes a few incredible tracks including Soul Food II, which is the follow up to the similarly titled song on his debut album Under Pressure

UK singer Izzy Bizu came through with an absolutely brilliant single Tough Pill which everybody needs to check out immediately!

Brandy released her 7th studio album B7 this past Friday & it’s her first in 8 years. I’m yet to tuck into it but I did enjoy listening to the 2nd single Borderline

20 year old Alabama native & arguably the breakout artist of 2020 Flo Milli delivered in a heavy way with her debut LP Ho, Why Is You Here? which dropped just under a fortnight ago & it’s safe to say she’s another rapper to watch keenly as she’s poised for an ever bigger 2021. The album is riddled with bangers from top to bottom but Not Friendly is most definitely my standout at the moment.

Nigeria’s DJ Spinall & Jamaican superstar Kranium connected on what may just be one of the standout collaborations of the year in my humble opinion with Everytime. The song’s just fantastic on all accounts

Harlem Spartans duo Loski & MizorMac connected on what has to be one of my favourite songs of the summer with On Me and I expect this one to ring off for a while

American rapper KYLE released his 2nd studio album See You When I’m Famous just over two weeks ago. It’s a good listen overall but the standout track for me by some distance is this gem of a record The Sun featuring Bryson Tiller & Raphael Saadiq

UK rapper Cashh formerly known as Cashtastic enlisted the help of West London’s finest WSTRN on Wag1 who did this feature absolute justice. It’s great to see Cashh back making good music & this should easily translate to the dancefloors once the country is rona free.

UK singer Lianne La Havas finally released her follow up album, which she self-titled Lianne La Havas just over a fortnight ago to her critically acclaimed 2015 Blood album. It’s a brilliant body of work and includes the fantastic Please Don’t Make Me Cry record

Jhene Aiko released the Deluxe version of her 4th studio album Chilombo just over a fortnight ago with 9 additional songs including my personal favourite All Good

The 16 standout records have been added to the official FTOD Apple Music playlist here and the Spotify version below
