It’s been way longer than anticipated since my last post, so I’ve counted up the days and I’ve got 21 fire tunes for your ears to make up for the time & in respect to Mr Savage. Every tune on here’s very deserving of its spot and they’re all currently on rotation in my personal February flames list! Enjoy the selections below!

Khalid – Talk

Khalid surprised the world this past Friday with this absolute gem of a tune! I mean he’s pretty much  been a fixture in the music world for the past two years since his debut single Location exploded. He’s followed it up with banger after banger, with OTW & Better serving as particular standouts for me. Talk might be my favourite song from the genius himself & my excitement ramped up even more prior to my first listen when I heard that Disclosure (also faves) produced the track. It’s shot up to no. 1 on my personal playlist and will probably stay there for the foreseeable future cause it’s honestly that good! In fact, it might be my favourite record of the year so far. Enjoy the fire tune below

Ariana Grande –  Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored

My long-time guilty pleasure music-wise Ariana Grande has done it again. I’ve been a fan since I heard Baby I off her debut album Yours Truly & she’s just dropped her impressive 4th studio album Thank u, next on Friday to rave reviews so far. The making of the album was therapeutic for the superstar according to Apple Music following the death of her ex-boyfrind Mac Miller & the subsequent break up of her engagement to Pete Davidson. It’s safe to say she channeled a lot of her energy into this album and the 13 track album is honestly a great body of work. My personal favourite has to be the featured tune although it was a close call against Bloodline. Make sure you check out the album here and enjoy the banger below

AJ Tracey – Nothing But Net Ft. Giggs

Ladbroke Grove native & blog favourite AJ Tracey dropped his debut album this Friday and its safe to say he delivered big time on this one in my opinion. It continues to grow on me with every listen and Rina or Wifey Riddim Pt. 3 could have easily ended up as the featured track but I’ve opted for Nothing But Net due to Giggs’ stellar 16. Peep the album here and check out the fire tune below

Odunsi (The Engine) – Tipsy Ft. RAYE

Odunsi’s released the first follow up single since he dropped his stellar debut album RARE in the 4th quarter of 2018, which I immensely enjoyed and would put in my personal top 20 of the year. I also recently attended his sold out show at the Garage in North London & its safe to say The Engine’s star is firmly on the rise! Tipsy premiered on Beats 1 last week Wednesday following the sold out show & it features RAYE who added the missing fung-shway to the record! Peep the record below

Ramz – Hold You Down

Ramz released his first single of 2019 Hold You Down following his breakthrough 2018, where his debut single Barking peaked at number 2 on the UK charts. He’s followed that up with numerous bangers including personal fave Family Tree and Hold You Down shows that he will be here for a very long time as he’s got a particular penchant for catchy melodies, which can only be a good thing for his career. Enjoy the bop below

Mahalia –  Do Not Disturb

Mahalia’s steadily on the rise in the UK R&B scene and Do Not Disturb has to be my favourite record from her in a minute. I expect this to gain serious traction, so enjoy the fire tune below

Skepta – Wish You Were Here

Wiley kept taking subtle shots at Skepta & here’s the resulting dub, which i love way more than I should considering its a diss track & I’ve got love for Wiley. Honestly, it goes so hard and we all know Skepta’s flow is second to none on this side of the pond & here’s yet another exhibit. Enjoy the dub below

Trey Songz – Chi Chi Ft. Chris Brown

R&B crooners Trey Songz & Chris Brown teamed up for the former’s first release of 2019 Chi Chi. As it’s expected, its a tune and a half & I’m eager to see if this translates to the clubs over the next few months. I have a feeling Trey Songz might be prepping an album for this year but until there’s an official confirmation, enjoy the catchy tune below

Jevon – Lingo Ft. Kida Kudz & Diggy Simmons

UK rapper Jevon released this catchy bop of a record just under a fortnight ago featuring rave of the moment Kida Kudz & an impressive 16 from Diggy Simmons. Enjoy the resulting fire record below

Lil Skies – Name In The Sand

I personally usually shirk at the thought of listening to yet another ‘Lil’ and the jury was out for me on Lil Skies but after hearing his fire feature on Gucci’s Mad Russian last year, I began to warm towards the Pennsylvania rapper and Name In The Sand definitely serves as the sealer for me. I absolutely love this record and I think you would too. Listen below

Yung Fume – Islands

I honestly had never listened to a Yung Fume record prior to me hearing Islands just over a fortnight ago & Lord knows I’ll be checking on every subsequent release cause this right here is a vibe! Listen below

Dua Lipa – Swan Song (From Alita: Battle Angel)

Another one of my music guilty-pleasures Dua Lipa’s back again with yet another fire record! Honestly she can do no wrong in my eyes (Apart from performing lol) and Swan Song adds to her legend. It’s just a beautiful beautiful song! Enjoy below

Jay Prince – BLESSED NOW

Safe to say Jay Prince’s January EP WONDER meet & exceeded my expectations following my earlier post in the year highlighting BEAMLIGHT. BLESSED NOW easily surpassed BEAMLIGHT in my opinion once the album dropped and I believe everyone needs to hear this song! It’s that fire!

Tiggs Da Author – KINSHASA RIDDIM Ft. Blade Brown

Never listened to a Tiggs Da Author record before but this right here is a masterclass on how you get people to listen to your record with a monster hook. The hook on this sounds like nothing I’ve ever heard before and I’ve had it stuck in my head practically everyday since. Safe to say I’ll be checking for him going forward! Enjoy the song below

Loyle Carner – You Don’t Know Ft. Rebel Kleff & Kiko Bun

Loyle Carner has carved a special unwavering lane for himself in the UK rap scene & he’s going nowhere anytime soon. Following the immense success of his debut album Yesterday’s Gone in 2017, the London MC has spent subsequent time touring with new single releases few and far between. However, earlier this year, he surprised fans with his new single You Don’t Know which I’m a big fan of and its his first release since last year’s Ottolenghi featuring Jordan Rakei!  Enjoy the tune below

J Cole – MIDDLE CHILD

Jermaine Cole’s been busy in 2019 working on the 3rd installment of his Dreamville label’s Revenge of The Dreamers compilation series, which took the hip-hop world by storm due to the unique yellow invitations made for the 10 day sessions, which culminated in all invitees posting their invitation across social media. He preceded the year by bodying any & every feature verse in 2018 ending with alot off 21 Savage’s stellar 3rd studio album. MIDDLE CHILD served as his first single of the year and also sees the return of legendary Toronto producer T-Minus who had been on a multi-year hiatus. Enjoy the fire tune below

James Blake – Mile High Ft. Travis Scott & Metro Boomin

James Blake took the world by storm earlier in the year with the release of his 4th studio album Assume Form. It’s a good body of work although other people seem to enjoy it more compared to myself but there’s one record I can’t get out of my head; Mile High featuring Travis Scott & Metro Boomin. La Flame particularly shines on this with a ridiculously catchy bridge. Enjoy the tune below

Blueface – Thotiana

I stumbled across Blueface while catching up on Everyday Struggle earlier this year, with DJ Akademiks predicting he was on the verge of a big year as Thotiana was gaining traction in certain quarters stateside. It’s safe to say the record is well and truly on its way to being a global banger! Peep the tune below

Burna Boy x Zlatan – Killin Dem

Burna Boy & Zlatan premiered this absolote banger Killin Dem at the former’s sold out Boxing Day concert in Lagos. The song was subsequently released a few days after and gained traction immediately. However, the video premiered  fortnight ago and Killin Dem has graduated to become the go-to afrobeat hit record at the moment & I expect this to be in rotation throughout 2019 especially with the notoriously long shelf-life off afrobeat hits!

Russ – Gun Lean Remix Ft. Taze, LD, Digga D, Ms Banks & Lethal Bizzle

Drill MC Russ released arguably the song of the year Gun Lean late last year along with the viral dance that has quite on like a wildfire all over the UK. He followed it up earlier this year with a stellar remix line up and its safe to say, no one let themselves down on here. Listen below!

Little Simz – Selfish Ft. Cleo Sol

Little Simz is gearing up to release her 3rd studio album Grey AREA and her first full length release since 2016’s Stillness in Wonderland. Selfish serves as the lead single for the project and if this is any indication, then we’re aim for experimental greatness from the North London MC. It just might be my favourite ever record from the rapper and I’m super excited to hear the full album once its released later this year. Enjoy the record below
