Let’s get into this bangers asap!

Shakka – Man Down Ft. AlunaGeorge (Prod. by Jae5)

Two-time MOBO winner & Birmingham native Shakka released his first single of 2018 this Friday titled Man Down & I genuinely believe he’s got a hit on his hands with this one. He tapped up super-producer & frequent J Hus collaborator Jae5 on production for this one. Aluna of AlunaGeorge also blessed the track with her glorious vocals on the hook alongside Shakka. I honestly can’t get enough of this record & I hope it takes Shakka’s career to the next level commercially & sonically. Peep the banger below

6LACK – Cutting Ties

Rapper turned singer 6LACK appears to be gearing up for a massive 2018 & he’s uniquely positioned to really cement himself as a top-tier R&B artist if all the stars align for him on his next record. After wowing the world & gaining critical acclaim on his debut mixtape FREE 6LACK at the end of 2016, the Atlanta native spent 2017 touring, while dropping fire loosies & features. He’s now returned with a brand new track Cutting Ties, which was released just before Valentine’s Day. It’s one hell of a record and is sure to raise the interest levels of fans & critics over his follow-up LP. In the meantime, enjoy the fire below

Tory Lanez – B.I.D

Tory Lanez finally announced the title & release date of his highly anticipated sophomore album this past Friday. The album’s called Memories Don’t Die & will be dropping in just over a week on March 2nd. As part of the album’s release, the Toronto native premiered another promotional single B.I.D, which has all the signature Tory Lanez elements to it and fits in sonically with the previously released singles Shooters, the previously featured Skrt Skrt, Real Thing & I Sip. The album will have 18 tracks on it & I’m hoping this project finally catapults Tory into the musical stratosphere that his immense talent deserves. Listen to the OG Parker produced song below

Nipsey Hussle – Dedication Ft. Kendrick Lamar

Crenshaw native Nipsey Hussle finally released his long-waited debut studio album Victory Lap this past Friday. The rap game vet has dropped over 12 mixtapes over the past 10 years including personal faves of mine Mailbox Money & Slauson Boy, which have all helped shape the sound of Victory Lap. The 16-track album is a beautiful body of work & one that I expect to be appreciated more with time. Picking a standout track was serious hard work for me (alternative was the ridiculously fire Rap N****s tune) but the standout 16 from Kung Fu Kenny just edged it for Dedication. Kendrick absolutely bodybagged the beat & to be fair to Nipsey, he also held his own on the record. Conducta – Only U

UK producer Conducta released his brand new single Only U this past Friday. The record also serves as the follow up to his remix to Jorja Smith’s On My Mind. One word here = banger. Listen below

Sofia Reyes – 1, 2, 3 Feat. Jason Derulo & De La Ghetto

Mexican singer Sofia Reyes released her follow up single to her debut album Louder this past Friday titled 1,2,3. The record features R&B singer Jason Derulo & reggaeton singer De La Ghetto. I stumbled across this gem of a tune while going through the Best Of The Week Apple Music playlist and it’s ridiculously catchy. I’m sure this will be part of my regular rotation going forward. Watch the music video & stream the record below

Cosmo’s Midnight – Get To Know Ft. Winston Surfshirt

Australian twins & production duo Cosmo’s Midnight dropped off their first official single of the New Year Get To Know. The record features the equally successful six-man band Winston Surfshirt. Check out the visuals to the amazing record below

M.I Abaga – The Crew Ft. Yung L & U.aX

Nigerian rap heavyweight M.I Abaga released his 5th studio album Rendezvous just under a fortnight ago.  The LP is relatively feature heavy but works sonically as M.I went with the direction of making a ‘playlist’ as Drake alluded to with More Life a year ago. The standout record for me has to be The Crew featuring Yung L & U.aX. The song takes a different direction from what we’ve become accustomed to from M.I but the chemistry of the 3 artists on the record just makes it work so well. Check out the feature heavy 15-track album from the Chocolate City boss here & bump the featured tune below
