Fire Tune Of The Day: Good Gas – Good Gas Ft. FKi 1st, MadeinTYO & UnoTheActivist

Today’s FTOD is taken off producer FKi’s recently released playlist project Good Gas Vol. 1, which surprisingly dropped on Friday. The White Iverson producer has teamed up with Diplo’s Mad Decent label to release short playlists seasonally. Features on the 1st installment include MadeinTYO, 2 Chainz & A$ap Ferg. It’s a short but impressive EP and my favourite record so far has to be the title track featuring MadeinTYO & UnoTheActivist alongside the platinum-selling producer. Check out the 4-track EP here & listen to the FTOD below

Fire Tune Of The Day: Hardy Caprio – Rapper

Today’s FTOD is the latest single release from Croydon rapper Hardy Caprio. Rapper is his first release of 2018 & builds on the momentum he garnered last year after releasing a plethora of bangers including the previously featured Cmon . It’s safe to say that Hardy’s got another one in the bag with this tune & I’m expecting an EP or LP release from the MC at some point this year. Listen to the song below

Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring RAYE, Giggs & Janelle Monáe

3 songs feature as part of today’s FTOD after New Music Friday served up too many heaters to choose from.

RAYE – Cigarette Ft. Mabel & Stefflon Don

Previously featured London singer RAYE released her latest single Cigarette yesterday. The record features Mabel Stefflon Don, who both came through with fire verses on this straight up banger of a record! I expect this to become an instant hit & it also raises the expectation levels around her debut album, which should drop at some point later this year. She’s having an exceptional start to 2018 and I hope she maintains the momentum for the rest of the year. Listen to the FTOD below

Da Beatfreakz x Giggs – Swingin In Da Whip

Production duo Da Beatfreakz released their latest single on Friday Swingin In Da Whip featuring the hollow man himself Giggs. This right here showcases Giggs at his finest, with him dropping hard-hitting phrases over the bass heavy instrumental. You should play this certified banger while literally Swingin In Da Whip. Listen to the record below

Janelle Monáe – Django Jane

Janelle Monáe announced the release date & title of her third LP Dirty Computer this past Thursday. The album, which has been two years in the making drops on April 27th. As part of the release announcement, she dropped two brand new songs with accompanying visuals titled Make Me Feel & the featured FTOD Django Jane, which is an absolute banger by all indications. She showcased more of her hip-hop side on the record and the result is a masterpiece of a tune. Listen to the song below

Fire Tune Of The Day: Starboy – Soco Ft Wizkid, Ceeza Milli, Spotless & Terri

Today’s FTOD comes courtesy of Starboy records boss Wizkid & his label mates Ceeza Milli, Spotless & Terri. Wizkid opened the floor up for his latest Starboy artists to showcase what they’re capable of but to be honest, it’s hard to tell who’s who on the song at this point apart from the label’s huncho. Regardless of that, it’s still a really strong record with its main strength being the hook, which I’ve found impossible to get out of my head since it dropped yesterday. The song also hints at the possibility of a label LP in the near future, which I’m totally here for! Check it out below

Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring Shakka, 6LACK, Tory Lanez, Nipsey Hussle,, Conducta, Sofia Reyes, Cosmo’s Midnight & M.I Abaga

Let’s get into this bangers asap!

Shakka – Man Down Ft. AlunaGeorge (Prod. by Jae5)

Two-time MOBO winner & Birmingham native Shakka released his first single of 2018 this Friday titled Man Down & I genuinely believe he’s got a hit on his hands with this one. He tapped up super-producer & frequent J Hus collaborator Jae5 on production for this one. Aluna of AlunaGeorge also blessed the track with her glorious vocals on the hook alongside Shakka. I honestly can’t get enough of this record & I hope it takes Shakka’s career to the next level commercially & sonically. Peep the banger below

6LACK – Cutting Ties

Rapper turned singer 6LACK appears to be gearing up for a massive 2018 & he’s uniquely positioned to really cement himself as a top-tier R&B artist if all the stars align for him on his next record. After wowing the world & gaining critical acclaim on his debut mixtape FREE 6LACK at the end of 2016, the Atlanta native spent 2017 touring, while dropping fire loosies & features. He’s now returned with a brand new track Cutting Ties, which was released just before Valentine’s Day. It’s one hell of a record and is sure to raise the interest levels of fans & critics over his follow-up LP. In the meantime, enjoy the fire below

Tory Lanez – B.I.D

Tory Lanez finally announced the title & release date of his highly anticipated sophomore album this past Friday. The album’s called Memories Don’t Die & will be dropping in just over a week on March 2nd. As part of the album’s release, the Toronto native premiered another promotional single B.I.D, which has all the signature Tory Lanez elements to it and fits in sonically with the previously released singles Shooters, the previously featured Skrt Skrt, Real Thing & I Sip. The album will have 18 tracks on it & I’m hoping this project finally catapults Tory into the musical stratosphere that his immense talent deserves. Listen to the OG Parker produced song below

Nipsey Hussle – Dedication Ft. Kendrick Lamar

Crenshaw native Nipsey Hussle finally released his long-waited debut studio album Victory Lap this past Friday. The rap game vet has dropped over 12 mixtapes over the past 10 years including personal faves of mine Mailbox Money & Slauson Boy, which have all helped shape the sound of Victory Lap. The 16-track album is a beautiful body of work & one that I expect to be appreciated more with time. Picking a standout track was serious hard work for me (alternative was the ridiculously fire Rap N****s tune) but the standout 16 from Kung Fu Kenny just edged it for Dedication. Kendrick absolutely bodybagged the beat & to be fair to Nipsey, he also held his own on the record. Stream the album here via All Money In No Money Out records & check out the featured fire tune below

Conducta – Only U

UK producer Conducta released his brand new single Only U this past Friday. The record also serves as the follow up to his remix to Jorja Smith’s On My Mind. One word here = banger. Listen below

Sofia Reyes – 1, 2, 3 Feat. Jason Derulo & De La Ghetto

Mexican singer Sofia Reyes released her follow up single to her debut album Louder this past Friday titled 1,2,3. The record features R&B singer Jason Derulo & reggaeton singer De La Ghetto. I stumbled across this gem of a tune while going through the Best Of The Week Apple Music playlist and it’s ridiculously catchy. I’m sure this will be part of my regular rotation going forward. Watch the music video & stream the record below

Cosmo’s Midnight – Get To Know Ft. Winston Surfshirt

Australian twins & production duo Cosmo’s Midnight dropped off their first official single of the New Year Get To Know. The record features the equally successful six-man band Winston Surfshirt. Check out the visuals to the amazing record below

M.I Abaga – The Crew Ft. Yung L & U.aX

Nigerian rap heavyweight M.I Abaga released his 5th studio album Rendezvous just under a fortnight ago.  The LP is relatively feature heavy but works sonically as M.I went with the direction of making a ‘playlist’ as Drake alluded to with More Life a year ago. The standout record for me has to be The Crew featuring Yung L & U.aX. The song takes a different direction from what we’ve become accustomed to from M.I but the chemistry of the 3 artists on the record just makes it work so well. Check out the feature heavy 15-track album from the Chocolate City boss here & bump the featured tune below

Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring BlocBoy JB, Calvin Harris, Mist, Zacari & Dr Sid

Back again with a big FTOD drop after going ghost for the past few days!

BlocBoy JB – Look Alive Ft. Drake

Memphis native BlocBoy JB dropped his first official single since signing to OVO Sound this Friday featuring his new label boss Drake. It’s the first song I’ve ever heard from the rapper & I’m eager to hear what’s to come from him as Drake easily overshadowed him on his debut by shining on the hook & dropping another verse from the Drizzy stimulus package arsenal on the record. Peep the visuals & record below

Calvin Harris – Nuh Ready Nuh Ready Ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR

Calvin Harris released his first single of 2018 on Thursday. The record features R&B crooner PARTYNEXTDOOR & it’s a sizzler to say the least! I already expect this to do damage to both the charts & clubs over the course of the year. Listen below

Mist – Wish Me  Well Ft. Jessie Ware x Display Skills Ft. Mr Eazi & Fekky

Birmingham MC Mist finally released his hotly anticipated Diamond In The Dirt EP on Friday. The 25-minute project showcases the great chemistry of the rapper & his go-to producer Steel Banglez in a concise but hard-hitting way on the tape. Choosing a standout song was a challenge so I’ve opted to highlight two songs from the tape. Wish Me Well is a surprisingly welcome collaboration with singer Jessie Ware, while Display Skills features Mr Eazi on the hook & Fekky, who came through with a decent 16 for good measure. Check out the project here listen to the featured tunes below

Zacari – Redemption with Babes Wodumo

The Black Panther soundtrack also dropped on Friday ahead of the film’s worldwide release this week. The 14 track album was curated by Kendrick Lamar & Top Dawg Entertainment with many of the label’s acts featuring on the project too. It’s a befitting body of work for the movie but lacks the overall cohesion you would usually expect from a traditional music album. However, there are still a number of gems on it including Redemption by Zacari who featured on LOVE. off Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN album. Check out the soundtrack album here & listen to the FTOD below

Dr Sid – Open & Close

Afrobeats veteran Dr Sid recently released his first single of 2018 Open & Close & it’s one hell of a bop. Listen to the song below

Fire Tune Of The Day: Justin Timberlake – Breeze Off the Pond

Today’s FTOD is Breeze Off The Pond off Justin Timberlake’s 5th studio album Man Of The Woods, which dropped on Friday. The 16 track album was primarily produced by The Neptunes, with additional support from Timbaland, who produced the lead single Filthy. I personally think it’s a good project but by no means his best. However, there are clear standout records, which lived up to the high expectation levels including today’s featured track.  He also supported the album by headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show last night, which you can watch here & listen to the FTOD below

Fire Tunes Of The Day: Kojo Funds – Check Ft. RAYE x Keys N Krates – Music To My Ears Ft. Tory Lanez

Kojo Funds released his brand new single Check featuring fellow Londoner RAYE on Friday & it’s a hit to say the least. The previously featured East London MC has carved out a special lane on the scene since growing in prominence at the back end of 2016 for crafting Afro Swing bangers, which borrow elements from Afrobeats, Grime & R&B to name a few. Check is one of those records that I expect to dominate the airwaves throughout the year as it’s tailor-made for the clubs & also features an unmissable sample from Craig David’s timeless smash 7 DaysPersonally, it’s also the best record I’ve  heard featuring RAYE’s vocals since she came into mainstream prominence last year & she really showcased her full vocal arsenal on the song.  Peep the future smash below

New Tory Lanez music also dropped this Friday & he’s got yet another smash on his hands. He supplied his vocals to electronic music duo Keys N Krates, who released their latest album Cura on February 2nd featuring Ambre Perkins, Ouici, 070 Shake & Tory Lanez on today’s other FTOD feature. Music To My Ears is such a beautiful dance record & Tory’s midas touch just takes it to another level in my opinion. Check out the featured tune below

Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring Burna Boy, Migos, Octavian, Mist, SiR & One Acen

Massive apologies for not posting any bumper tunes over the past week, so I’m here to make it up to everyone by dropping SEVEN heaters for your listening pleasure. Let’s get into it

Burna Boy – Ph City Vibrations

Burna Boy finally released his long-awaited 3rd studio album this past Friday Outside via Atlantic Records. Since releasing his debut studio album L.I.F.E in 2013, which included hit records like Like To Party & Tonight, Burna has seen his star continually rise year on year with each release as either the lead or featured artist. He followed his debut album release with 2015’s On A Spaceship, which included the timeless banger Soke & one of my personal faves Rizzla. The new album Outside showcases all the elements of Burna’s artistry in his best form & shows why he’s one of the go-to afrobeat superstars. The album features an impressive arrray of songs, which should cross-over well in the UK market but also contains records that are true to his PH roots like my favourite afrobeat song of all time Rock Your Bodywhich forms part of the 12-track album. Lily Allen & J Hus (on the previously featured Sekkle Down)  also serve as the only features on the LP. My favourite tune barring Rock Your Body has to be Ph City Vibrations. It’s so good that I’m even intrigued & more receptive to the idea of visiting the city one day. Check out the Outside album here & peep the fire tune below

Migos – Walk It Talk It Ft. Drake / White Sand Ft. Travis Scott, Big Sean & Ty Dolla $ign

Migos dropped the long-awaited sequel to their Grammy-nominated & platinum-selling 2nd studio album Culture this past Friday. The aptly titled Culture II album features an incredible 24 songs & feels like a double LP in all honesty. I think it’s a good album but not at the same level sonically as the prequel. That being said, the album is still littered with a number of gems, as you’d expect based on the law of percentages; 11 by my count. I settled on featuring two songs on the tape cause I couldn’t decide between them. Walk It Talk It is a braggadocious nod to taking action over saying shit, which we can all relate to & features a 16 by the 6 god, Drizzy. The 2nd featured tune is the Wheezy-produced banger White Sand. The record features Travis Scott, Big Sean & Ty Dolla $ign, who are all favourites of mine & the resulting tune is a hazy banger with a brilliant hook & fire verses to match from all 3 of them. Check out Culture II here and sample the featured tunes below

Octavian – 100 Degrees Ft. Sam Wise

Rave of the moment Octavian dropped his second official single via Drilla Records on Friday. The French-born & South London raised MC made a big impression on the rap world at the back end of 2017 with his excellent single Party Here, which casted the spotlight on him as an MC to look out for & culminated in a feature spot on Drizzy’s OVO Sound Radio which took the hype level surrounding the MC to another notch. At this point in time, Octavian looks like a great hope for the UK rap scene and I can only hope that he makes good on all this early promise! For now, he’s shooting 2/2 from the field so enjoy the sophomore single featuring Sam Wise below

Mist – Game Changer

Birmingham MC Mist dropped his first single in over 10 months titled Game Changer this past Friday. Mist has emerged as one of my favourite MC’s on the UK scene over the past 15 months or so. His style is unique & the chemistry he’s got with producer Steel Banglez is undeniable. The record serves as the first single off his soon-to-be-released Diamond In The Dirt EP. Look out for the tape’s release date & peep the crisp visuals below

SiR – War

TDE signee SiR released his first official project through the legendary label November just under two weeks ago & it’s a beautiful body of work to say the least. The 11-track LP is a great intro into one of the newer members of the label alongside Lance Skiiwalker. I personally really enjoyed the tape & it served as my first real sample of the Inglewood native’s music. The featured record below War is my fave from the tape & I’ll definitely be keeping tab on all his future releases! Peep the tune below

One Acen – Vice Versa Ft. WSTRN

UK rapper One Acen came through with a brand new fire tune last week Friday titled Vice Versa. The rapper gained mainstream notoriety with last year’s Verified. Vice Versa is an impressive party record featuring the resurgent group WSTRN, who seem to be slowly building their profile back up after a few legal mishaps involving a group member last year.  In layman’s terms, this is a banger & I expect this to gain traction in the clubs over the coming months. Enjoy the fire tune below
