Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring Odunsi, Burna Boy, J Hus, Wande Coal, Lily Allen & Giggs
by Olu
With my current crazy schedule, I’ve resorted to dropping multiple bangers with each post more frequently & today’s no exception. I’m off to Nigeria so I’ve found myself vibing to afrobeats more & more in preparation as I do every year. So without any further ado, let’s get into today’s selections
Odunsi – In The Morning
Rising superstar & alternative afrobeat (I just coined that) connoiseur Odunsi released In The Morning this past Friday & it’s such a banger of a tune. After rising to prominence earlier this year with Desire & his collaborative War EP with Nonso Amadi, the Nigerian native has definitely carved his own special lane in the afrobeats industry & he will be around for a very very long time. I’m excited to see what he drops next following this release cause it’s one hell of a song & his track record so far has been damn near impeccable. Listen to the fire tune below
Burna Boy – Sekkle Down Ft. J Hus
Burna Boy premiered his latest single Sekkle Down off his upcoming Outside mixtape on Beats 1 yesterday. The record features UK superstar J Hus & was produced by Jae 5, who shot to prominence with his work on J Hus’s debut album Common Sense earlier this year. The song’s also the second high-profile collab between the 2 artists following Good Time & is a heater to say the least. Burna Boy’s easily one of my favourite artists out & Rock Your Body, which dropped earlier this year might just be my favourite afrobeat song of all time, it’s honestly that good! Anyway, enjoy the fire tune below in the meantime, while we wait for the mixtape to drop
Wande Coal – Tur-Key Nla
Wande Coal’s back again with an afrobeat heater just in time for Christmas in Lagos. After tensioning the clubs last year with Iskaba, I fully expect this new banger to damage on the dancefloor. Listen to the Dapiano produced record below
Lily Allen – Trigger Bang Ft. Giggs
Lily Allen released her first single in 3 years earlier today & I’m so happy about that. The record features the Hollow man himself Giggs, who came through with a fire 16 to start the record off. I’ve been a big fan of her music ever since I saw her play at Wireless in 2010, just before Jay-Z’s headlining set & it’s refreshing to hear new music from her. I’ll definitely be looking out for Lily’s next moves following the release but enjoy the banger of a tune in the meantime below
