Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring Not3s, Mr Eazi, Jaden Smith, Wizkid, Jae Stephens & Jidenna

by Olu

Back again with a bumper post to cover the missed days over the past week. Safe to say I have a lot of heat to share for your listening pleasure today so let’s get into it!

Not3s – Intro/Crank It Up

London rapper/singer Not3s finally dropped his anticipated Take Notes EP via Relentless Records on Friday & it’s one hell of a tape to say the least. The tape includes hits; Addison Lee & Aladdin, which have both considerably raised his profile in the UK rap game over the past 18 months! The EP does a great job of showcasing the rapper’s versatility & overall sound. In a nutshell, there are no skippable tracks in my opinion & I highly recommend it to anyone who comes across this post. The double-sided intro track is my current fave as I’ve had it stuck in my head all weekend. Listen to the EP here & check out the featured fire tune below

Mr Eazi – Pour Me Water

Nigerian afrobeat superstar Mr Eazi finally let go of his latest single Pour Me Water, which he’s teased for over a month now & it’s thankfully lived up to expectations! It’s safe to say that the Leg Over crooner has yet another hit on his hands. Since taking the afrobeat world by storm last year, he has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down in 2017. He’s featured on records with everyone from RAYE to Crazy Cousins, got Major Lazer to rework Leg Over for the official remix featuring French Montana & was Apple Music’s featured Up Next artist for August, which culminated in an appearance on the Late Late show with James Corden. I expect this song to be in constant rotation over the next few months & I’m sure I will be turning up to this song in Lagos over Christmas. Enjoy the FTOD below

Jaden Smith – Icon

Jaden Smith released his debut album SYRE this past Friday & it’s unexpectedly brilliant to say the least. I never really took notice of Jaden’s musical talent until I heard his feature on Rich Kid’s Like This & although I’ve paid attention to his releases ever since, I was not expecting his debut album to be this fire. He’s grown immensely as an artist & SYRE is a testament to that. The album features A$AP Rocky & Raury and has been released via his own label MSFTSMusic, with major backing from Roc Nation. Icon’s the standout record for me & I was blown away when I initially heard the preview a few weeks ago. The song is a hit & hopefully this gets the traction it deserves in the various hip hop circles. Listen to the fire tune below

Wizkid & Mut4y – Manya

The original Starboy himself & titan of the afrobeats genre; Wizkid dropped a surprise single on Wednesday & we’ve got another hit to dance to as expected. The record features  Mut4y, who’s one half of the superstar production duo Legendury Beatz, who are responsible for a plethora of Wizkid bangersThe song was produced by Killertunes & the video was shot at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos. Enjoy the future banger below

Jae Stephens – Someone Else

While listening to a few tracks off Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist last week, I stumbled across this gem of a tune. After doing a bit of digging, I garnered that she’s an emerging LA based artist, who’s already honed her distinct R&B sound, which is evident on her first official single 24Kwhich was produced by UK producer Jam City. Someone Else is an incredible song, which will be in my personal music rotation for the foreseeable future & I believe she’s going to be here for a long long time judging off these two songs. Make sure you pay attention to her future releases & listen to the record below

Jidenna – Little Bit More Ft. Burna Boy

American-Nigerian Jidenna released his surprise Boomerang EP just over a week ago & it’s littered with bangers. It’s his first body of work since releasing his debut album The Chief  in February earlier this year. The Wondaland records artist did a great job of infusing afrobeat elements to his music, without losing his signature sound. The Little Bit More remix featuring Burna Boy’s my current favourite of the EP, although Boomerang’s a very very close second. Listen to the EP herecheck out the fire tune below
