Fire Tunes Of The Day Featuring Cardi B, Snakehips, 21 Savage, Chip & Kojo Funds

by Olu

Vibes Patron’s back to supply the latest fire tunes as usual! Massive apologies for the lack of posts over the past few days as I was at Wireless throughout the weekend & I’ve only just about recovered from all the good drank. Due to the lapse in posts, I’m dropping five fire tunes today.

Cardi B – Bodak Yellow

So this right here is one hell of a banger! I have to admit that although I always respected Cardi B for her Instagram come-up & for just being a legend of a woman; I never thought I’d listen to any of her music properly & REALLY enjoy it but here I stand converted! Cardi B ventured into her music career with last year’s Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1 mixtape, which gained traction among her core fan base but the follow up Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2, which dropped at the start of 2017 really took things to the next level for her on the music front. The project includes the hit single Lick featuring Offset & led to her signing a major label deal with Atlantic Records in February.  Bodak Yellow is the rapper’s first release under the major label & it’s safe to say she has a hit on her hands with this one, cause it’s absolutely fire! Peep the video & stream the tune below.

Elley Duhé – Immortal (Snakehips Remix)

Snakehips dropped their latest official remix at the start of July & it’s a sizzler as expected. The duo are easily my favourite dance music producers alongside Kaytranada & have carved out a great reputation for putting their signature contemporary happy vibes spin on R&B & hip hop tracks, while also creating amazing original records for themselves (Forever Part IIDimelo for example). While the duo have been known in the dance circuit for a number of years, they gained more prominence to the general public at the back end of 2015 with the release of the chart-topping single, All My Friends featuring Chance The Rapper & Tinashe  . This latest remix is absolutely special & everyone needs to check it out even if you’ve never entertained a dance music tune previously cause IT IS LIT! Trust me!

21 Savage  – Bank Account

21 SAVAGE IS BACK! I’ve been a huge fan of his music since he dropped his collaborative project Savage Mode with super-producer Metro Boomin in July 2016. I initially didn’t give the project much attention but a friend of mine (shoutout to Tunde) kept banging on about how sick the 10-track project was; so I eventually caved in & it’s safe to say my ears were extremely happy with my decision. 21 brings a rawness & transparency to the rap game, which is very refreshing considering the sheer volume of hard-to-believe bogus & outlandish statements made by rappers these days. The rapper kept up the momentum by featuring on Drake’s Sneakin’ at the back end of last year, which further increased the anticipation for his debut album. The rapper is known for the word ‘Issa’, which he used to explain his knife tattoo in an interview with DJ Vlad last year & he subsequently announced that his album will go by the same word. The Atlanta rapper finally released his debut album this past Friday & it is everything I expected it to be and more. The featured tune Bank Account is one of my standouts on the album & will get traction in the rap community. Enjoy the tune below.

Chip – Honestly Ft. 67

Chip! Chip! Chip! After being dropped by Sony Records & having a somewhat unsuccessful stint on T.I’s Grand Hustle label, Chipmunk has enjoyed a career renaissance since 2015, which started with the release of his Believe & Achieve EPisode 1 EP & his involvement in various grime beefs most notably with Tinie Tempah, Bugzy Malone & Yungen. The grime beefs & the subsequent ‘sending for’ other artists have been a staple in grime culture from the start & Chip sending for those artists by releasing a ridiculous number of diss tracks in such a short space of time including my personal favourite Michelle Riddim, helped catapult him back into the minds of grime fans all over England, culminating in him winning the Best Grime Act award at the 2016 Mobo Awards. Throughout the same period, he’s released 3 more EPs including Believe & Achieve EPisode 2, Rap vs Grime & last year’s Power Up . Chip finally announced his third studio album League Of My Own II , which will be his first since 2011’s Transition at the end of June, while premiering the gritty lead single Get’s Like That Ft. Ghetts . Chip followed this up last night with the release of Honestly featuring 67 & both tracks have massively raised my anticipation levels for this album. Watch & stream the song below & look out for the album, which drops on August 11th.

Kojo Funds – My Wish Ft. Kranium

If you made it to this last post, thank you & I shall keep it short and sweet. Kojo Funds is an emerging artist from East London whose sound has been described as Afro Swing by his booking agency. He came into mainstream prominence with the release of last year’s My 9ine, Dun Talkin Ft. Abracadabra & featuring on Yxng Bane’s Fine Wine. He has maintained the momentum in 2017 with the release of Warning, which is an absolute banger to say the least. This latest song My Wish was released a week ago just in time for his Wireless performance & after witnessing his set & seeing the reaction to the song, I believe he’s got yet another hit on his hands.
