Fire Tune Of The Day: Goldlink – Crew Remix Ft. Gucci Mane, Brent Faiyaz & Shy Glizzy

FTOD today is by one of my favourite MC’s Goldlink. The DMV native has carved out his own unique lane in the game & his notoriety for absolutely bodying dance music beats is very well known. I’ve followed his career since I heard his critically acclaimed debut mixtape ‘‘The God Complex’ on a sunny summer afternoon in 2014 & I’ve been a fan ever since. His uptempo energy & inimitable flow on the project grabbed my full attention for 35 minutes. I’ve never been so swiftly impressed by a rapper in such a short space of time.

After signing to Soulection & Black Butter Records here in the UK, Goldlink dropped his 2nd mixtape titled “And After That, We Didn’t Talk” in 2015, which helped establish the rapper among the more traditional hip hop circles. Link finally released his debut album ‘At What Cost’ earlier this year, featuring the standout single Crew, which you can listen to here. The DMV rapper premiered the remix a few days ago,  with an additional verse from La Flare himself; Gucci Mane!

Fire Tune Of The Day: Wizkid – Naughty Ride Ft. Major Lazer

Today’s FTOD is ‘Naughty Ride’ by the original Starboy himself ‘Wizkid’. It’s the latest single off his soon-to-be-released Sounds From The Other Side mixtape. The afrobeats superstar is showing no signs of slowing down in 2017 and I expect this to blow up in a similar vein to ‘Come Closer featuring Drizzy. Diplo, Walshy Fire & Jillionaire; collectively known as Major Lazer produced the record. Listen to the fire tune below

Fire Tune Of The Day: DJ Khaled – Don’t Quit Ft. Calvin Harris, Travis Scott & Jeremih

Today’s FTOD is ‘Don’t Quit’ off DJ Khaled’s recently released 10th studio album ‘Grateful’. Calvin Harris serves as the guest producer on this one & it has a similar vibe to the singles released so far off his upcoming ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1 album, which drops this Friday. Travis Scott steals the show on this record with a stellar verse & an infectious hook that should translate to dancefloors everywhere all summer! R&B singer Jeremih provides the final piece to the record with a fun final verse. Stream DJ Khaled’s Grateful album here & listen to today’s wavy fire tune below.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Drake – Signs x Metro Boomin – No Complaints Ft. Drake & Offset

OH IT’S LIT! New Drizzy music dropped last night so today’s FTOD choices automatically selected themselves. The first song ‘Signs’ is a stand-alone single Drake released exclusively in partnership with Louis Vuitton, while ‘No Complaints’ sees super producer ‘Metro Boomin’ recruit the 6 god & Migos’ Offset for his latest single.

‘Signs’ debuted this past Thursday at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring-Summer 2018 fashion week show in Paris & it is tailor-made for the summer time. Drake’s known to draw inspiration from the Caribbean on songs (One Dance, Controlla) from time to time & this song falls under the same category in my opinion. The record makes you want to just vibe with a drink in your hand while simultaneously catching a whine from your girl at a day time outdoor party. Make no mistake about it, this is a hit! Singing Drake never ever misses.

‘No Complaints’ debuted on OVO Sound Radio last night. Migos’ Offset contributes a guest verse while also handling hook duties on this one. He raps about making a quarter million a week & wanting to be Muhammad Ali. Drake also features on the record & flexes about buying all he wanted at 23 & the Billboard charts being his playing field.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Artist For Grenfell – Bridge Over Troubled Water

Today’s FTOD is the charity single released in support of the victims & families of the Grenfell tower fire disaster that occured in West London last week. No disaster has ever hit me personally as much as this incident & may the souls of all the victims rest in perfect peace. The tribute single was put together by Simon Cowell and features Stormzy,  Robbie Williams, James Blunt, Rita Ora, Emeli Sande & a host of other British artists. All proceeds from the charity single will be collected by the London Community Foundation in support of the victims. You can donate here:

Fire Tune Of The Day: Calvin Harris – Feels Ft. Pharrell, Katy Perry & Big Sean

Today’s FTOD is the recently released 4th single ‘Feels’ off Calvin Harris’ upcoming fifth studio album ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol.17. The feel good tune sees Pharrell shine with a magnificent pre-chorus, which seamlessly transitions into Katy Perry’s catchy hook, which I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot over the summer. One of my favourite rappers out; Big Sean rounds up the song with a solid verse. Listen to the song below & look out for ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which drops on June 30.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Leven Kali – Yours

I had no idea who Leven Kali was 4 hours ago but a friend of mine shared the record with me & I’m so glad he did. As a music fan, I love when my favourite artists release new music but there’s something about stumbling across a gem at the start of their music career that just feels so good & today’s FTOD artist falls into that category.

‘Yours’ is a dreamy slow jam that gets you grooving & bopping along in no time. The record feels like the perfect mash up of two songs, with the beat switch up around the 2:07 mark setting the scene for a more up-tempo but traditional R&B feel to the record and it sounds amazing! Peep the fire tune below & check out his Spotify profile to listen to his other dope songs, including ‘Smile’ here.

Fire Tune Of The Day: 2 Chainz – Blue Cheese Ft. Migos (Bonus: Good Drank Ft. Quavo & Gucci Mane + Big Amount Ft. Drake)

FTOD today is ‘Blue Cheese’ by one of my favourite rappers out; 2 Chainz & it features guest verses from all members of the Migos this time (I see you Takeoff!). The Atlanta rapper & former Playaz Circle member dropped his 3rd official solo album ‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’ this Friday & Blue Cheese is my current standout so far. I know it’s still early days but it’s his best album of his career in my opinion & any rap music fan should check it out.

I wanted to highlight the two tracks I included in the title because both records were released on separate EPs released by 2 Chainz last year & they are both in my top 10 songs of 2016. Tity Boi included both songs on this album too & the world is a better place for it! Quavo’s hook on Good Drank is as good as any hook on any hip hop song released in the past year & Drake’s Big Amount verse still gets me animated every time I hear it.

Fire Tune Of The Day: DJ Khaled – Wild Thoughts Ft. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller

Today’s FTOD is a no-brainer! DJ Khaled came through on his promise and dropped the hotly anticipated 4th single of his soon to be released ‘Grateful’ album; ‘Wild Thoughts’ & it’s a sure fire summer banger to say the least! The video has already garnered over 9 million views in a day & currently occupies the no. 1 spot on Youtube’s trending chart. In layman’s terms, this is a HIT!

The record features Riri, who impeccably slaughtered the hook & Bryson Tiller, who came through with a lit verse for good measure. The song samples Carlos Santana’s 1999 classic ‘Maria Maria Ft. The Product G&B, which is easily one of my favourite throwback songs of all time! I mean, it’s literally impossible to get tired of hearing Carlos Santana’s guitar every now and again.

Check out the video directed by Colin Tilley below and watch out for Khaled’s 10th studio album, which drops next week Friday (June 23).

Fire Tune Of The Day: Machine Gun Kelly – Trap Paris Ft. Quavo & Ty Dolla $ign

Today’s FTOD is this gem of a song I stumbled upon earlier this week from Machine Gun Kelly featuring Quavo & Ty Dolla $ign. I have to admit that I’m not the biggest Machine Gun Kelly fan in the world & my only major references to him are his hit single ‘Wild Boy’ & his stellar verse on French Montana’s ‘Ocho Cinco’ . However, when I saw Quavo’s name I had to check the tune out cause I listen to any and everything released with his name on the tracklist. I’m pleased to say I made the right choice cause this is one hell of a banger. Ty Dolla $ign does his thing on his hook & Quavo floats gloriously over the beat on his stand-out verse as expected.
