Fire Tune Of The Day: 2 Chainz – 4 AM Feat. Travis Scott

I am way too excited about today’s FTOD courtesy of 2 Chainz aka Tity Boi featuring Travis ‘La Flame’ Scott. Right off the bat, I have to admit that I’m a massive 2 Chainz fan and I’ve listened to literally every song released by the ATL rapper since his debut solo album ‘Based On A T.R.U. Story’ dropped in 2012. There’s just something about Chainz’s cadence, flow & one-liners that I can never get enough of & he’s coming off arguably his best 12 month run in his rap career. Last year, 2 Chainz released 4 projects! Yes you heard me correctly; 4! He released Felt Like Cappin in January 2016, then released the impressive Collegrove joint album with Lil Wayne in March last year. The dress god then dropped two absolutely fire mixtapes towards the back end of 2016 titled ‘Daniel Son, Necklace Don’ & ‘Hibachi For Lunch’, which ramped up my desire to hear a new 2 Chainz album. Both mixtapes produced underground hits in Big Amount featuring Drizzy & Good Drank featuring Quavo along with Gucci Mane. Both songs will appear on Tity Boi’s 4th solo album aptly titled ‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’, which drops in just over a fortnight on June 16.  The album will also include today’s FTOD 4 AM featuring one of my faves, Travis Scott. Listen to the track & peep the album tracklist below.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Dave – 100M’s

Today’s FTOD is by a massive personal favourite of mine, Santan Dave! I initially heard this song live at his o2 Academy gig on March 31st and it sounded pretty good, but the released version sounds even better as expected (I know, no shit sherlock). The Streatham MC has been on a roll this year, dropping fire tunes in Samantha Ft. J Hus & Revenge, which was previously featured on this blog. 100M’s is a relatable story about hunger, drive & desire to succeed. The song was produced by SG Lewis (another personal fave) & Dave himself. Watch the crisp visuals below

Fire Tune Of The Day: Aminé – Heebiejeebies Ft. Kehlani

Today’s FTOD is by 23 year old rapper Aminé featuring the amazing Kehlani. The Portland native is best known for his 2016 massive hit ‘Caroliné, which went 3x platinum, peaked at no. 11 on the Billboard 100 & has amassed over 160 million Youtube views. I initially got into Aminé’s music through his collaborations with Kaytranada & although I knew he was a very talented artist, the success of Caroliné took me by surprise to an extent. I suspect that Aminé got into the right label situation with Republic Records, which has coincided with the up turn in his career. Amine’s kept up his momentum this year with the release of REDMERCEDES, which includes Missy Elliot & London’s own AJ Tracey on the remix. Heebiejeebies serves as his second official release of 2017 and it sounds glorious, Kehlani & Aminé’s chemistry is obvious all over this record and it produced one hell of a track. Fire Album Of The Day: Bryson Tiller – True To Self

So I’m switching it up for today’s FTOD and highlighting a whole LP. Bryson Tiller released his long awaited sophomore album today and it’s only right for me to highlight the whole project. The Kentucky native’s True To Self album was originally slated to drop on June 23rd but Tiller brought the release date forward and surprisingly shared the album today titled ‘True To Self’. I’ve listened to the album once so far due to work commitments but I was more than impressed with what I heard. Tiller clearly tried to push the boundaries of his sound on this album and I can’t fault an artist for trying that. The initial reactions I’ve seen so far have ranged from fire to okay but I believe this project will grow on everyone as time goes by. For any first time Bryson Tiller listeners, check out his debut album TRAPSOUL here and everyone should check out the new album below.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Runtown – For Life

Today’s FTOD is by afrobeats artist Runtown. The man ruled the airwaves all over Africa with the infectious ‘Mad Over You’, which was easily one of the the afrobeat tunes of the year, if not the one. For Life serves as his first solo release in 2017 and it sounds like an absolute banger. It’s too early to say whether this song will be as big as Mad Over You, but at the very least it’s an unbelievable tune. Watch the video below, which was directed by Meji Alabi.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Kali Uchis – Tyrant Ft. Jorja Smith

Fire tune of the day is the latest single released by Colombian-American singer Kali Uchis featuring Jorja Smith. Since releasing her first EP ‘Drunken Babble’ in 2012, the multi-talented 22 year old has kept music releases to a bare minimum (1 or 2 songs per year), which makes drops like ‘Tyrant’ a bit more special. The song has elements of dancehall & pop but Kali’s stamp is all over the record and makes it her sound despite the obvious influences. Jorja Smith also lends her incredible voice to the song and we already know how fire features from the Midlands teenager tend to be (Hint: More Life). Listen to today’s FTOD below

Fire Tune Of The Day: Kacy Hill – Like A Woman

Today’s FTOD is by G.O.O.D. Music artist Kacy Hill. The American announced her debut album ‘Like A Woman’, which was executive produced by Kanye West himself and drops on June 30th via G.O.O.D Music & Def Jam. I first heard of Kacy Hill on ‘Experience’ which dropped in 2014 and music releases have been few and far between from her ever since. However, she did drop one hell of a song, which is the album title track ‘Like A Woman’ and it sounds absolutely incredible. G.O.O.D Music as a label do not sign singers often, so whenever they do, that artist tends to be pretty special ( John Legend comes to mind) and I genuinely believe Kacy Hill falls into that category. Watch the video to the album title track below & keep an eye out for her debut album when it’s released on June 30.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Dean – Love Featuring Syd

Today’s FTOD is by Korean alternative R&B singer Dean featuring the incredible lead singer of the Internet; Syd. I have to admit, the first time I listened to this song was my initial introduction to Dean and he did not disappoint.  However, I listen to everything Syd releases, which brought my attention to this gem of a tune. Syd can do very little wrong in my eyes & she stamped her incredible voice all over this record. Listen to the fire tune below & also check out Syd’s debut solo album Fin, which she released at the start of the year here.

Fire Tune Of The Day: Vince Staples – Big Fish

Today’s FTOD is the album title track released by Vince Staples yesterday. The Long Beach native announced the release date to his sophomore album ‘Big Fish’, which drops on June 23rd via Def Jam. Judging by how amazing his debut album ‘Summertime ‘O6’ was and the two singles released to support ‘Big Fish’ so far, I expect big things from this album. Peep the fire track below

Fire Tune Of The Day: Bryson Tiller – Honey

Today’s fire tune of the day is courtesy of ‘Young Pen Griffey Junior’ himself, Bryson Tiller. The Kentucky native had one hell of a run with his debut album TRAPSOUL, which dropped in 2015 and was a phenomenal project by all accounts. The R&B crooner was relatively quiet in 2016, keeping releases and features to a bare minimum (shoutout to Gucci Mane) but finally looks all set to own his fair share of the airwaves in 2017.  Bryson dropped 3 songs last week Friday including today’s featured song ‘Honey’. Tiller also simultaneously announced his sophomore album ‘True To Self’, which will be released on June 23rd via RCA Records. Peep the fire tune below
